Hook, line and sinker. Lure has lured me in.
Sceptical at first, I didn’t really know what to expect at Lure, but I am more than pleasantly surprised. Situated in the new Level One dining precinct at Wests New Lambton, Lure is a world away from what you would expect. It is refreshingly light, bright and of course a little nautical.
With plenty of natural light and a fresh breezy atmosphere Lure is the perfect spot for my Friday lunch.
With fresh seafood arriving daily from the Newcastle and Sydney Fish Markets, the menu is brimming with options, for starters I pick the seared scallops with pomegranate seeds, parsnip puree, parsnip crisps and a pomegranate glaze. Followed by the baked snapper fillet served on top of an oven roasted fennel and tomato puree, crisp loligo squid and lemon oil for mains.
I am blown away by how beautiful these dishes are when they arrive, not only do they taste delicious but they are presented marvellously. They almost look too good to eat!
One side dish you must try on the menu is the beer battered potato scallops, which are huge and come with a syringe of malt vinegar and sea salt to inject beneath the batter….so deliciously naughty.
The menu is extensive and delivers a modern twist on traditional seafood dishes, with Japanese and Italian influences evident. They also have a seafood window for you to select your produce before it gets prepared to your liking and delivered to your table.
Lure is well worth a visit, its perfect for an indulgent Friday lunch or even better for a Saturday night three course meal.
